Lastly this is only a guid as I may have missed a few things. Note: when you navigate as far as the "MadCatz" directory folder you may see three different variations of the RAT 9 Mouse which had been previously manufactured and sold under the name of Cyborg, therefore there are two previous Cyborg model folders and the final Mad Catz version so pick the appropriate.

I chose the USB referenced ".inf" file and it worked for me as it proceded to install and finalised installation of the mouse drivers.

In this folder you should see a HID and USB related ".inf" file. Now navigate to or something very similar to :-Ĭ:\Windows\Temp\MadCatz\RAT_9_Mouse_7_0_45_2_圆4_Drivers\Inf\RAT_9_Mouse_MadCatz_1709_DPI_6400

inf file and all corresponding driver files would have been copied over to the Windows temporary folder from when the Driver installation was run previously and despite closing the program when it got stuck, the driver files should have been successefully copied to this temporary location. Now click Browse and were going to navigate to where the coresponding and required. CLick on one to highlight it and then click on "Have Disk". You should choose one that refers as closely as possible to the Mad Catz Mouse. Make sure "Show compatible hardware" is ticked and then choose a relevant device listed.

Click Browse for drivers on my computer and then click Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.Ħ. Double click on the Mad Catz RAT 9 HID device and then click on the Driver tab and then click "Update Driver". You may already see that Widnows has the "Mice & Other Pointing Devices" already expanded if it is unhappy with the Mad Catz Mouse, if not expand it.ĥ. Open Controll Panel > Harware & Sound and then click on the Device ManagerĤ. I say "to a point" because you'll only be going as far as when it asks for you to plug in the Mouse and then simply close the program by clicking on the cross in the top right-hand corner of the dialog window.ģ. Install the Mad Catz Drivers to a point (not the software, at least not yet). Plug in the RAT 9 Mouse (Receiver USB connection) to the computer and let Windows install it's generic drivers.Ģ. Further more, although the mouse itself appears to function, it sadly appears to upset some other devices (especially if on a USB Hub) and unless mistaken it appears to affect the performance of some (not all) programs.ġ. However the problem here is that Windows is no happy with it as because Windows will ocassionally complain from time to time that a Device is not recognised and as far as I'm aware, it's complaining about the mouse. If you plug the mouse in from the start without trying to install Mad Catz Drivers, then Windows does set up the device with it's own generic drivers and the mouse itself does appear to function without issue. Using Windows compatability setting appeared to have no effect.

However not the case on my current laptop hybrid and although the current computer is not a gaming laptop, they all had Windows 10 64bit installed so I'm not sure whats going on. More confusingly, I was able to install the very same Mad Catz Drivers and the seperate Mad Catz Software on my previous two gaming laptops (Aorus X7 DT V6 CF1 and the X7 Pro V3 before that) without issue. This problem could possibly be down to an unsigned driver issue, however there is no warning nor any dialog box giving advice of this and I was not keen using the system restart method for disabling the unsigned driver check especially as I have BitLocker enabled which would require additional procedures of authorization codes.

So the installation is perpetually stuck and neither progresses nor completes. However despite plugging in the Mouse's USB connection to the computer, the installation is unable to continue because the 'NEXT' button remains ghosted-out and the User is unable to click the 'Next' button. When installing Mad Catz RAT 9 Drivers, some may encounter a problem where the driver installation program will "STOP" at the point it asks you to plug in the Mouse via its USB connection (Wireless receiver USB connection in the case of the RAT 9 gaming mouse). (This may work for some of their other gaming mice such as the RAT 7)

Finally I found a way how to install Mad Catz RAT 9 Drivers which were causing so many problems for some when trying to install.
